Dear reader,
After a beautiful 3 weeks or so of having the opportunity to come up with as much original content to post on our website, social media, and buzzfeed accounts, the time to bid our Tailgating Injuries Prevention Association project farewell has come. While we will no longer be bombarding your newsfeed with weekly reminders about the inherent dangers associated with tailgating, it is our hope that we have impacted our community enough to make them aware of some of the most notorious, yet underrated, tailgate injuries existing in this unpredictable world. Whether it’s corn-hole elbow, grilling wrist, food coma, sunburn, face-paint rash, or any other of the injuries that we have mentioned, we urge you to be as careful as possible in your tailgate activities. In addition to this, we hope that the tailgating community has learned a tip or two about how to improve their tailgate, what to do versus what not to do at tailgates (things which we have unfortunately learned from experience), and how to properly handle the responsibility of becoming the “grill-master.” So, on behalf of the Tailgating Injuries Prevention Association team, we wish all of our fellow tailgaters, supporters, and fans a wonderful life, and we would love to remind you for the final time to be safe, but to have an amazing time. As always, happy tailgate season people and good luck to the teams you support!!! May your tailgates be even better than they already are.

When planning a good tailgate, most people underestimate the importance of the music they'll be playing. Music has the potential to make or break your tailgate. You want the music to be fun, but it can't be too aggressive. You also want people to sing along, meaning that the songs you play have to be tactically chosen. Most importantly, your music should be hype and keep people moving. Check out this playlist to see what it takes to make your tailgate go from average to amazing. This playlist comes jam-packed with throwbacks to get people singing and dancing, goood rap to bump to, some EDM to get you pumped, and some country, rock n roll, and techno to satisfy all of your music cravings. You’re welcome in advance for making you the most popular tailgate in the area. Enjoy, and remember, stay safe! (Follow "tg" on Spotify to have this playlist on-the-go) November 9, 2016. Today, the world stood attentively watching as Donald Trump pulled off an incredible upset over presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, earning the title of future President of the United States of America. In these gloomy times, the country stands exceedingly more divided now than ever; it is a time where we as Americans need to stand together to observe as history unravels. In this time of need, I am proud to say that there is one activity so American that it will be the glue that holds this country together. Tailgating. Tailgating is the light at the end of the tunnel. We can always count on tailgating to be the activity that catches us when we fall. Whether it's food, friends and family, games, football, or certain liquids that shall be left unnamed for the sake of this site, there is something in tailgating for everyone. It is one of the most wonderful experiences life has to offer. So this weekend, instead of stressing out over the future president, or fighting with your peers about the outcome of the election, grab your friends, get a cooler, and enjoy a great tailgate not for yourself, but for Americans everywhere.
It was 6 AM on a chilly November morning in Gainesville, FL when I woke up to my friend enthusiastically screaming, “Rise and shine! It’s game day!!!” Now, after having gone to sleep at nearly 3 AM the night before, waking up at 6 really did not seem like the best idea... but 80% of the fun of game days is the tailgate right?! Right. Fast-forward an hour or so, and we were decorated in orange and blue apparel to support the Florida Gators. I was somewhat well fed and ready to go to my first tailgate. We made our way to frat row to begin our day. Before I knew it, we had made our way through the Pike house, the AEPi house, and the Phi Delt house. Because it was a day game, we had been up since 6 AM dancing, chanting, and running from one house to another. By the time the game came around, I was ready to sleep on the curb of the street. I was so tired that I couldn’t move, talk, think, or even breath really. That is when I realized that I had been struck by one of the most common tailgating injuries in existence: exhaustion. I wish I could say that I made it to the game that day, but unfortunately that was not the case. Exhaustion is a real injury and the public has to be more aware of it. 42% of Americans have suffered from exhaustion due to excessive tailgating at least once in their tailgating career. Don’t be a statistic.
Tailgating is a game. It is THE game day for the washed up or simply non-athletic sports fans. This is why your tailgate has to out perform all the others around you. If you decide to invite them over for a "friendly" game. This is not a happy "everyone gets a trophy" kind of event; this is a winner take all even if your opponent does not know it. Winning a tailgate starts with the truck you drive up in, to the size of the grill you roll off the bed. If you can pull together the top tailgate in the parking lot, success will come to you in all aspects of life. By getting the first place vote in the tailgate, you will make new friends to go into the game with, but you will also make arch enemies that you will need to show up week in and week out to keep the title belt.
While everyone loves tailgating, it’s not all fun and games. Here are some tailgate do’s and don'ts that are way too real.
Flip Cup: a beautiful game, and my personal favorite tailgating activity. But what exactly is flip cup? Flip cup is a party favorite, and one of the most competitive tailgating activities. As complicated as it sounds, the goal of the game is to chug your drink, and flip the cup before your opponent. The reason this game gets so competitive is because there is no limit cap to how many players can participate. Whether it is 1 v 1, or 8 v 8, the heat will be turned up once the game begins, and trust me, friendships can be ruined. The beauty of flip cup, however, comes from the team work. Cheering your teammate on as their drinks dribbles down their chin in an effort to successfully destroy their opponent creates a bond like no other. The rush of adrenaline as you begin to catch up to your opponent after having suffered a slow start is unparalleled. And finally, watching the last person on your team face off against the last person on your opponent’s team in a final effort to take the glory is nerve-racking. But the triumph that comes when your teammate’s final cup wobbles as it tries to catch its balance and finally settles, upside-down on the table to seal the deal and win the match: gold. What I am trying to say with this, is that flip cup is a game like none other. If you ever want to crank a tailgate up, I highly recommend starting a big game of flip cup. Flip Cup: Just Flip It. A common misconception about tailgating is that it only lasts for the time period before the game starts. This is completely false; tailgating starts when the sun rises and stops when you hit your bed. It's an all day affair. Due to this fact, how your team does is a pivotal factor in how the post game tailgate goes. Today, I am here to counsel you through the losing blues. Depression after a game is very real and should not be taken lightly. Sports games, against what every one says, are an end all, be all. Your life is worse off if your team loses. Here are some things you can do to begin the healing process after a game:
